Gutter guards and leaf guards
A cover or insert that keeps debris out of the gutter while letting water in.
Free on-site measure. A number quoted over the phone is a guess.

You probably want this if…
- You are cleaning gutters more than once a year
- You have pines, mesquite or cottonwood near the roofline
- The house is two stories and getting up there is genuinely unsafe
- Downspouts keep blocking at the outlet
The work
What actually happens
01
Work out what is actually clogging them
This matters more here than almost anywhere. A guard designed to shed broad leaves does very little about fine wind-blown grit and roof granules, which is a far more common blockage in the Chihuahuan Desert. Pine needles are a third problem again — they bridge across mesh that stops leaves easily.
02
Match the guard to the debris and the roof
Screens, micro-mesh, surface-tension covers and foam inserts all behave differently, and some are incompatible with certain roof types or void a roofing warranty if fastened under shingles.
03
Install without compromising the roof
The fastening method matters. A guard that requires lifting the first course of shingles is a different proposition on a tile or metal roof than on asphalt.
Planning the estimate
What shapes the price
Every home and scope is different. The final price depends on the measurements, material choices, access and the condition of the existing system. These are the factors Mountain Top reviews during the estimate.
Estimates are free. You receive a written specification and fixed quote before work begins; the price changes only if a genuinely hidden condition appears that could not have been seen beforehand.
- Linear footage covered
- Guard type and material
- Condition of the existing gutters and whether repairs are needed first
- Roof type and access
- Two-story work
Around here specifically
What the desert does differently
The regional debris profile is unusual. Fine dust after a wind event, gravel and granule wash off flat and low-slope roofs, mesquite and cottonwood litter, and pine needles at elevation all behave differently. The right guard needs to match the debris around the home while still allowing the gutter to be inspected.
